Bushwick Open Studios, one of New York’s most impressive art events of the year has come to an end. With more than 600 open spaces it was quite impossible to see everything, but what is sure is that this festival is becoming an overwhelming point of reference for the young art world of the Big Apple. Not only artists’ studios, but also bars, restaurants, yoga studios, shops and a lots of other commercial and not profit spaces opened their doors to let dive people into Bushwick’s creative climate.
Artists and exhibitors are definitely satisfied with the audience, although it seems that the Venice Biennial (opened during the same weekend) took away some of the usual visitors. The feedback is more than positive and a growing number of art collectors, dealers and potential buyers confirmed the presumption that it may become a competitive environment to Chelsea in the future.
